I've been tagged by Brandy!

This is the 4th picture in the 4th folder.
This is my precious husband, Mike celebrating his 52nd birthday October 8, 2006 with his grandgirls, Laurel, Scarlett, Maddie (just the back of her head), and Gracey (just her shoulder and a part of her face). After the birthday party, we went to the State Fair. That was the tradition at that time to go to the fair after Mike's birthday party.

3 for 3

OK, here it is 3 for 3. The 3rd day I am blogging. Today was easier getting up and going to work Again we were busy! Worked om PI Notebook and PI Plan and updated all the policies I have neglected to update. Lunch was a bust- so I had a hamburger and my apple. Learned today that we are not getting our merit raises for 2008, nor will there be a raise in 2009. HMA has frozen raises, frozen hiring, and has cut back hours. Fortunately, I am not dependent on the raise and hours as many are. When the recession hits healthcare... it's bad. I wouldn't be surprised if HMA isn't around much longer.

So after work I went to Hancock's Fabric and got the muslin to make binding for the quilt. When I am done with it, I will post a picture. All their Christmas stuff was 75% off, but there was nothing I was interested in. In fact, it was sorta depressing - the left over stuff that nobody wants! I usually feel depressed after Christmas. I read one time if you get depressed after the holidays you should plan a trip somewhere the middle to the end of January and you will have something to look forward to. That sounds like a fun idea to me.. I think I'll mention it to Mike and see what he says.

Tonight, Mike is playing cards and I am home alone. I plan to eat supper while reading the paper and then watching whatever I want on TV. I need to get in bed earlier. I drag around and it's 11 or 11:30 before I go to bed then I can't get to sleep until midnight. I need to go to bed at 10:15 - 10:30 so I am asleep by 11.

I have started reading a really good book. It's old, but still being printed. It is "Two From Galilee" by Marjorie Holmes. It is a Biblically-based fictional story about Mary and Joseph. I read it once years ago and then lost the book, so I was excited to find it on Amazon and I got it the day after Christmas.

Today at work there was a going away gathering for our doctor, Dr. Ed Brewer. He is closing his practice and going to work at Whitfield, the state mental hospital. I teased him and told him at least he would know for sure now that his patients were crazy! HaHa So we've chosen Dr. Jennifer Bryant as our new doctor... hope it works out OK.

Tomorrow is New Year's Eve and we have no plans. A quiet night at home with a glass of champagne and a kiss from my guy at midnight sounds good to me.

2008 has been a terrible year and I am looking forward to a happy 2009! God bless us all.

OK, so it's day two and this is my second entry! So far so good. As I said yesterday, I really got spoiled and didn't want to go to work today. I was sleeping soundly when at about 5 am, Mike's alarm starts beeping. After a while I punched him to wake him up, but then I was awake and aggravated! I do think he could sleep right through the loudest alarm and I can be awaken when my alarm is turned off and just makes a soft tick sound at the time it would beep. I really hate to be awakened that early and not be able to go back to sleep. I usually lay there and worry until it's time for me to get up and get ready for work. Finally, after 10 or 15 minutes, I must have fallen back asleep and slept soundly until 6:20.

I really enjoy watching (or listening to) the TV early in the morning. I never get to do so, because it would disturb Mike, so when he goes hunting I turn on the TV and listen to the Early Show. I watch Channel 16, the ABC affiliate and then Good Morning America. I like to see Robin Roberts... she's a Mississippi gal and I enjoy her interviews. I DO NOT like Diane Sawyer and generally tune her out when she's on.

Work was busy today... I started right at 8:00 and was busy, busy until 11:35 when I stopped to eat lunch. Remember me telling yesterday how awful hospital food is... well guess what they had today after all the holiday meals we've had? Yep! Ham and turkey and dressing - hospital style! HaHa I ate a bowl of turnip greens and my apple and went back to work. It was 4:36 when I looked at the clock on my computer. It was time to go home.

Rather than going home, I decided to go look for Christmas Cards for 2009. I was headed to Hallmark, but at the last minute decided to go to Target.... WOW what a sale they were having. All their Christmas stuff was 75% off. I got lots of cards, Christmas lights, wrapping paper, bows, bags, and a few other fun things - a whole buggy load and when I checked out I had 5 bags of stuff and it only cost $37. It will be fun to drag it all out next year and not have to go buy lights and paper and bows and even as couple of gifts.

I got home about 6:45 and Mike got in right behind me. We had left over ham and cheese sandwiches and hot dogs for supper. I read the paper and now I am ready to settle down and maybe watch a good movie before bedtime. Tomorrow will be another busy day at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital.

After work tomorrow, I plan to go to Hancock Fabrics and get some muslin to bind the quilt I finished quilting. After we get the Christmas stuff down, I plan to baste in the next quilt and get it in the quilt frame. It will be a sampler that we did in the guild I used to belong to. I'll keep you up on how the quilting goes. I usually have big plans to quilt an hour or so each night, but never fulfill those plans.

I am blogging ! ! !

Never blogged before, but I really enjoy reading my niece's blog, so I decided to start a blog just noting day to day mundane activities, as well as exciting events of my life. At the age of 53, it doesn't seem that there would be too many exciting events (not like my niece has raising a 4 y/o and teaching pre-school), but I'll just see what I end up blogging about. I may really be surprised at what a fun, exciting life I have!

For years I have made New Year's Resolutions... usually to lose weight, eat healthier, and so forth, but somehow by the first of February the resolution was always a foggy memory. Then one year I made a resolution to spend more time with my precious Mama and that was the first resolution I kept. It was easy!

For 2008, I resolved to finish the 6 quilt tops I have made before starting a new top. I knew there was no way I'd quilt all those tops in 2008, but I just finished quilting one top... hummmm may not keep that resolution... there are too many fun and pretty quilts to make! I guess I need to find somebody to help me quilt!

Now 2009 is right around the corner and I have decided for my New Year's Resolution to write some of my memoirs. Sounds fancy doesn't it, but I read an article in "Reader's Digest" that said just start writing down events you remember from your life. So I am getting a neat journal and I will begin to jot down events that I remember. How I met my husband, the day my baby brother was born, the first day of first grade and so forth. I will keep you informed on how this resolution goes, but right now I am excited about it.

After 5 days off of work, I go back tomorrow. We have end of year stuff to clean up and preparation for 2009. Mostly I love my job, but there are days I just want to stay home in my pajamas and drink coffee and read a good book and quilt, and knit. I work with a wonderfully fun and funny group of people and we always have a good time together. Lunch time is always fun and helps get our minds off of the yucky hospital food we eat each day.

So so much for my first post... I'll blog more tomorrow to let you know how that first day back at work went!
