April was a wonderful month full of adventure and relaxation! The month started early on April 1, yes, April Fool's Day, when The Joint Commission Surveyors showed up bright and early! They surveyed us for 3 long days and when they left, we were all exhausted, but happy that they had come and gone and we could now all get on with our lives.
The following weekend was Easter and we made the trip to Laurel to celebrate with Mama as we often do. We had a wonderful holiday beginning on Friday when we arrived at Mama's and then went to Mi Casa for Mexican food. Mi Casa is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant and we enjoyed a delicious meal and fun conversation.
Saturday morning Mama's church had their Easter Egg Hunt at her house and we had a great time! There were over 15 children there and many adults. It was fun getting to meet all the new people and visiting with everyone. After the egg hunt everyone left and we all took a nap! Then mama and I went to town shopping and got flowers for Daddy's, Granny's, and Grandad's graves and went to the cemetery and put them on the graves. Then we went back to her house and Mike and i went and got catfish from Walker's and we got a movie - Seven Pounds. The food was delicious and the movie was good.
Sunday we were at church at 6:45 for the sunrise service. With the collaboration with the Journey Church has really changed things and it was interesting to see how the service has evolved. After the service they provided a fellowship breakfast and again we enjoyed visiting with everybody.
After church, we started getting lunch ready. Cliff and Cindy and Caleb and Lisa came and we enjoyed our traditional Easter food and games - egg toss and egg races. We all left and Mike and I made it home about 6:30. It was a fun holiday!
I enjoy Mama's dogs, Arby and Ellie. They seem to enjoy me too! I think they know I'm their "sister". HaHa
The next weekend, we went to Philadelphia, MS to the Hog Wild Cook Off. We left about 1 and got to Philly at about 2:15. We first went to Williamsville, the old store there where we bought cheese, bacon, and bologna. Yum! I LOVE the bologna and ate half of it before we got into town!
After shopping at Williamsville, we went into Philadelphia and looked at the craft booths. There was a booth where the lady "recycled" stuff. She took things and made things from them. I was attraced to a bird house on a old coat rack with a tiny boiler on top for birdseed. I liked it but didn't want to pay what the lady was asking for it. When she saw me looking at it , she said for me to make her and offer and I got it for $20!
We left downtown and stopped by the Golden Moon. I shopped around and Mike played a little then we ate and headed home, trying to beat the rain that was coming.
It was a fun adventure and we enjoyed exploring the town of Philadelphia, MS.
The next weekend we went to our friend Suzanne's and had a crawfish boil. It was a fun meal and then we started a game of Chickenfoot Dominos.
Next weekend we are planning a trip to Franklin, TN to visit Brandy and Michael and Jackson. The third weekend in May we are planning our annual trip to Gulf Shores and this year, Noel and Martin and the babies are going too!
We missed so much last year - the whole month of April and most of May and then we were so traumatized it took us months to feel like ourselves. We were so engrossed in when we were doing, that we didn't realize where we were emotionally or physically. This Spring has been wonderful and I will NEVER take seasons and people for granted again.

A Fun, But Busy Month
March has been a busy, but fun month!
We have had fun times with our friends - beginning with a cook out on March 6th at Suzanne's. Mike A. grilled steaks and we brought salad and dump cake and had a wonderful meal. After we ate, Suzanne's son came in with a video of men "snake grabbing". It was truly red-neck, but we watched the entire video... Too funny!
On Friday the 13th it was stormy and rainy, so we ordered pizza and we spent time enjoying being with family!
The 14th was stormy and we stayed home watching movies and lazing around.
On the 15th we loaded up the van and took off for Hot Springs, AR. We left about 9:45 stopping in Lake Village, AR for a tasty lunch. On the way, we enjoyed the sites of the delta and then when we reached Pine Bluff and turned west, the hilly foot hills of the Ozarks heading into Hot Springs. We had good books on tape and enjoyed each other's company.
We made it into Hot Springs about 3:45 and checked into our hotel, the Hampton. Our room was nice and we dumped our things, hopped in the van and took off for down town and bath house row.
Mike had never been to Hot Springs and we enjoyed walking on the Promenade and looking in the shops along Central Ave. We had a delicious supper at the Olive Garden and went to our room.
After a good night's sleep, we awoke refreshed and ready to roll. We went back to bathhouse row and to the Quapaw Bathhouse where we scheduled afternoon massages and a bath in the hot spring water for me.
For lunch we drove up the mountain to a picnic area and had a wonderful picnic lunch. After driving over the mountain we headed back to town and visited a couple of antique shops before going for our massages.
The Quapaw was wonderful. I headed to the bath and relaxed in the hot water. There were attendants meeting every need and I was well relaxed and ready when it was my turn for a massage.
After the great massage and a shower, we dressed and went to Lake Hamilton to the Fisherman's Wharf for supper. We enjoyed our view of the lake and enjoyed watching the aquaducks taking tourists into the lake! After supper we found a book store and enjoyed an hour or so of browsing through books...one of our favorite pastimes.
We awoke again on Tuesday morning refreshed and excited about another day of exploring Hot Springs. We went to visit Aunt Beulah and took her out for lunch. Afterwards we spent a couple of hours in the Central Market, an enormous indoor flea market where I found several items I just had to have!
It was St. Patrick's Day and we had heard about the "6th Annual First Ever Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade" to be held on Bridge Street, the shortest street in the world?!?!?
The parade started at 6 pm, so we parked and at about 4:45 found a spot and waited. There was alot of activity and lots of nice people to visit with and before we know it the parade started. it was quiet and experience and we had so much fun. The family we stood next to owned the Pancake Shop and invited us for breakfast the next morning - their treat! After supper at the Italian Villa, again we arrived in our room tired but happy.
Wednesday was going home day, but before leaving Hot Springs, we got 2 gallons of "spring water" from the spring at Happy Hollow, had brunch at the Pancake Shop, and shopped along Central Ave. We stopped to see Aunt Beulah and were on the road by 12:30. By 5 we were in Vicksburg and decided to eat at Diamond Jim's where folks over 50 could eat for 1/2 price. We had to register for a "players card" and were given $10 playing $$. After eating, we played our money and when I won my $10 back I quit. Mike didn't quit until he won $200 and then we headed home.
All in all it was a wonderful trip and we are looking forward to going again!
It was a short work week... just 2 days and then it was the weekend.
Friday night we had supper with our friend Sheila and really enjoyed visiting with her and catching up.
Saturday we headed into Jackson for the St. Patrick's Day Parade. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we had so much fun!
Sunday after church we had a quick lunch and then took off for the deer camp. Mike had lost his cell phone on Friday and we took the metal detector to look for it. After several hours of looking, and not finding it, we gave up. We drove to the Rez and rode around watching the boats and fishers. We had a delicious supper at the Cock of the Walk and then went home... again tired, but happy.
Finally, this has been a good week at work, one where I have NOT had to work long hours and have had time to get things done.
I am looking forward to a quiet weekend, going to church, and seeing friends and family.

Busy Week
It has been a busy week, just as I expected it to be. Each day I have worked from 7:15 or 7:30 until 4:45 or 5:00. Getting alot done, but it's exhausting.
Monday night was the Brandon Quilters' Meeting. It was fun to see all my quilting buddies again and listen to a great program and see the pretty quilts.
Tuesday night we went with our neighbors, the Jameses to Ruths Chris Steakhouse. They are having a "special" and it was delicious! After we ate we went to the Fresh Market Grocery Store. That is a fun place with lots of unusual items. Mike bought me a beautiful bouquet of pink roses. They have brightened our den and made our home smell good!
Last night we went out for supper wth Mama and Gerald and Sabrina. It was a nice visit and good supper.
Tonight after work, I went to the movie to see "Madea Goes to Jail." it was funny and I enjoyed the movie.
Hopefully, I will be able to get off about 12 noon tomorrow. Mama is coming back to bring Sabrina to the airport and hopefully we can have a nice visit.
Then it will be weekend!

Laziest Day
This has been the laziest day I have spent in a long time... in fact I still have my night gown on and it is 10:15 pm. I have done very little today, except watch movies, read the paper, surf the Internet, and eat! We watched some really good movies - old favorites and new ones we watched for the first time.
Next week we will be springing our clocks forward an hour and losing an hour's sleep. I have the hardest time getting used to the springing forward... I'll be glad when this switching back and forth stops!
I just heard on the weather that it is supposed to SNOW ! ! ! They showed lots of snow in Vicksburg and said it had started in Clinton and Madison. We may wake up tomorrow and not be able to travel the streets!
Next week will be a busy week with stuff at work and personal stuff going on. Monday night is Brandon Quilters, Tuesday night Mama is coming up to pick up Sabrina and we are going to have supper together. Joanne and Clayton want to go to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse one night and Thursdays are always Mike's Card night, so that takes us right back into the weekend.
Next Saturday night is our Sunday School Party. I am supposed to bring "Dump Cake" and rice.
Busy life! HaHa

It's been a month!
Well, that resolution to blog daily didn't last too long, but I'm gonna forgive myself and move forward.
It's been a tough month at work with long hours and busy days. Most days I come home exhausted and then when it's just about bed time... I get a second wind and then can't go to sleep until 11:30 or 12. Hopefully, these long hours won't last much longer.
The first weekend in February, Mama and Gerald came up for Scarlett and Savanna's birthday party. They had planned to go to the party, have supper, and then go home, but after we finished supper they decided to spend the night and go home the next morning early. We had so much fun with them! After the party we went to the mall and shopped awhile... well Mama and I shopped, Mike and Gerald sat at the coffee shop in the bookstore and people (women) watched! Mama bought me a real pretty top for Spring, now I can't wait for it to get warm enough for me to wear it. After shopping we went to the Steamroom Grill and had a wonderful steak supper. When we got home we watched the movie "P.S. I Love You". Mama and I enjoyed it! The next morning, they were gone by 8:30 am, but it was a fun time.
On Valentine's Day, Mike and I went to our friend, Suzanne's house for a Valentine's party. We had such a good time with great food, fun times and delightful company. Most everybody from our dinner club was there, Suzanne, Mike A., Sheila, Jamie, Sherry, Larry, Mike and me! One thing we did was to look at Mike and Suzanne's pictures from their trip to Thailand... WOW wonderful pictures of a beautiful country.
Last weekend Mike and I went to Mama's for the weekend. As usual, she spoiled me with great food and relaxing times. We went to Hattiesburg on Saturday and shopped. It was a fun time ending up with a fun and interesting supper at a local steakhouse.
I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend this weekend. March will be another busy month with, hopefully, some fun trips put of town.

I can't believe it is already Monday night and I haven't blogged in over a week. Last week was almost a blur! Work was rough and I was 5:30 and 6:00 getting in every night! By the time I got home and fixed / ate supper and read the paper... I was exhausted. Early bedtimes didn't seem to help... I have to remember I am still recovering from the surgery. I got ho,e Friday at about 3 pm and laid down across the bed fully clothed with even my shoes on and fell into a deep sleep. I slept for 2 hours! It was wonderful.
Friday night we met our friends at Steamroom Grill. That's one of our very favorite places to eat! The food was great and the conversation and company was delightful.
Saturday my buddy Becky and I went to Canton to the P Is for Primitive yarn shop and took a class in rug hooking! I am hooked! That was such a fun day and I really have enjoyed working on the piece. It is just 10 inches by 20 inches so much smaller that a rug, but it is a fun craft. I can't wait to enter it into the state fair! I met 3 other ladies who are "hookers" and we had a great day learning and visiting. When we got back to Brandon, Becky, and her husband and daughter met Mike and me at Newks for supper. We had a fun time visiting with them and telling them about our class.
Sunday afternoon Mike and I basted in my latest quilt. It is one I pieced about 3 years ago and its a real pretty scrappy block of the month quilt. I am ready to start quilting it but can't put down the rug hooking.. HaHa
Sunday about 5:30 I got a call from Scarlett. She was telling me all about her new bed and was asking me to come see it. Well, come to find out it's really Savanna's bed, but Scarlett is so proud of it. We went and picked up pizza and went to see the bed. The girls were just precious and we had such a fun visit with them. It's hard to believe they are getting so big! Oh yea... the bed is cute too! HaHa It's a tiny junior bed just right for Savanna with fairies on the canopy and the bedding. She was so sweet trying it out, but was a little confused about why she had to go to bed when Grammy and Grandad had just gotten there!
Tomorrow night is our New Stage play. It is "Gee's Bend" a play about the Quilters of Gee's Bend Alabama. It should be a great play and I am looking forward to it.
